Long Description 2: This is the traditional Chinese Chess in which your aim is to capture the general of the opponent. You and your opponent should take turns to move your pieces, unlike Chess the pieces are put on the intersection of the lines, rather than on the squares. The general moves one step horizontally or vertically, and can only move within the nine places in the palace area. A special move of the general is that when the two generals are facing each other without any pieces in between, then the general can 'fly' and capture the opponent general, winning the game. In practice this rule means that no one can move in such a way that the two generals will be facing each other with no pieces in between. The advisor moves diagonally along the diagonal lines in the palace area. The elephant moves diagonally for two spaces and cannot cross the river in the middle of the playing area. If a piece is standing at the middle of the path of travel of the elephant, then the elephant cannot move in that direction. The horse moves just like Chess, two steps to one direction and then turn 90 degress and move one step. Unlike Chess, for horses if the first of the two steps is occupied by another piece, then the horse cannot move in that direction. The chariot is just like the rook in Chess, it moves horizontally or vertically without limit on distance. The cannon moves like the chariot, but when capturing opponent pieces, there must be exactly one piece between the cannon and the piece to capture. That piece is called the 'cannon platform'. The soldier moves forward one space before it crosses the river, and after it crossed the river, it can move one space either forward or left or right, but not backwards. Chinese Chess has been around for more than 2000 years and is still popular among the Chinese people.
